Metal and fabric, city and forest, the precision of technology and the imperfections of primal nature . . .
At once hard and soft, smooth and sharp, rough and polished, my work is full of opposites and contradictions.
Skeletal gothic architecture, swirling psychadelic wall paper, grainy punk rock poster art, and impossibly intricate computer circuit boards all inspire my creation of visually rich surfaces. Creative recycling of found objects also underpins my design philosophy.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Design from the College of Fine Arts (University of New South Wales) in 2004, I worked as a costume stylist and in jewellery production before undertaking a Diploma of Jewellery & Object Design at the Design Centre, Enmore (Sydney Institute of TAFE). I moved to Brisbane at the beginning of 2007 and continue to work from my home studio at Teneriffe.
I have participated in a number of group exhibitions, at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Danks Street Depot Gallery, Knot Gallery, Sydney Botanic Gardens Palm House, and Kudos Gallery in Sydney, as well as Reverse Garbage and the 2007 Turbot Street Party in Brisbane.
In time I want to travel the world, looking for opportunities to cross disciplines - combining jewellery with graphics, costume, textiles design, lighting and human environments.
